Her Story

When Haven Nugent was a senior at Legend High School, she attended the “That Girl Conference,” the event that would later evolve into the Shine Summit.

At the time, Haven wasn't focused on building a career or thinking much about what her future could look like. She simply knew she enjoyed being part of the conference and connecting with the women who spoke.

But something shifted.

Hearing successful women share their stories opened Haven's eyes to possibilities she hadn't considered for herself. For the first time, she could picture herself pursuing a career and continuing her education.

The experience gave her something she needed: confidence in the dreams she was beginning to discover.

Today, Haven is attending Brigham Young University, studying to become a marriage and family therapist. She plans to continue to graduate school and earn her master's degree.

Looking back, she never imagined herself as someone who would pursue higher education and build a career around helping others.

The Shine Summit helped her see that future was possible.

Sometimes, impact begins with simply helping a girl see a future she couldn't picture for herself before.

And once she can see what's possible, she can begin to believe it's possible for her.
